Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, November 15 -- On November 15, President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the 2024 World Chinese Language Conference and congratulated the Confucius Institute on its 20th anniversary.

Xi Jinping pointed out that language is a tool for human beings to exchange ideas, a carrier of civilization, and a bridge to enhance understanding. Chinese carries the civilization and wisdom of the Chinese nation for thousands of years. It is an important public cultural product that China has contributed to the world. Supporting and serving the international community in carrying out Chinese language education is the responsibility of China as the native language country.

Xi Jinping emphasized that the popularity of international Chinese language education demonstrates its open and inclusive charm, showcases the value of mutual learning and understanding, embodies the spirit of win-win cooperation, and embodies the joint efforts of Chinese and foreign people. It is hoped that the World Chinese Language Conference will adhere to the principle of upholding the right path while embracing innovation, strengthen connectivity and integration, build consensus among all parties, and strive to build bridges of mutual understanding in language, mutual trust, and mutual learning between civilizations, making new and greater contributions to building a community with a shared future for mankind.

The 2024 World Chinese Language Conference, hosted by the Ministry of Education of China, opened in Beijing on the same day. The theme is "Connectivity, Integration, Inheritance, and Innovation." More than 2,000 government officials, principals, experts, scholars, teachers, students, and ambassadors to China from over 160 countries and regions attended the conference.
