Hunan Daily, October 17 (Reporters Tang Aiping, Chen Yanyan) At 7:30 am on October 17, the Shenzhou XI manned spacecraft was successfully launched, a globally significant event. Thousands of miles away from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, in Xiangtan, Hunan, employees of Hunan Hualing Cable Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Hualing Cable") cheered in excitement. The new ignition cables used in the launch of "Shenzhou XI" were produced by Hualing Cable.
Hualing Cable has provided hundreds of high-temperature ignition cables for the Long March series rockets. From "Shenzhou I" to "Shenzhou XI," the ignition cables used in the launches have all come from Hualing Cable.
The predecessor of Hualing Cable—the former Xiangtan Cable Factory—began researching ignition cables in 1993. At that time, the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology required that the product could withstand high temperatures and impacts without damage under conditions of 1400 degrees Celsius or higher for 1 minute. Based on the technical indicators provided by relevant departments, the factory invested a large amount of manpower and material resources in research and development. In 1994, the first cable was trial-produced and successfully tested. In 1995, the first batch of products were used in the Long March series rockets and were recognized as a national-level new product.
After formally taking over the former Xiangtan Cable Factory, Hualing Cable continuously strengthened technological transformation and improved the quality and grade of its wire and cable products, including ultra-high-temperature cables. Products have been successfully applied to major aerospace engineering projects such as the Long March series rockets, the Shenzhou series, and Chang'e 1 and Chang'e 2. Today, the company's new ignition cables have been further improved: the temperature resistance level is higher, increased from 1000 degrees Celsius within 45 seconds to between 1400-1800 degrees Celsius within 45 seconds; the outer diameter is smaller, 5% smaller than the old product; and it is lighter and more flexible, 15% lighter than the old product.
